Learning Pathways

Learning Pathways

As a hospital administrator you will have access to PTP's Learning Pathways feature. As a PTP administrator, you can create and assign Learning Pathways to individuals or groups in your user list. You decide which chapters, assessments and/ or sim cases must be completed, as well as completion timeframes and assessment expectations. Once a user has been assigned to a Learning Pathway, they will receive an email notification and a message in their PTP message inbox. A to-do list will appear on the user's home page detailing the learning tasks they are required to complete, the minimum assessment scores they must attain and by which date. Administrator's will be able to track each user's Learning Pathway progress.

Note: Learning Pathways can be edited at any time once they have been created.

1. Learning Pathways page

To access the Learning Pathways page, click on the Learning Pathways tab on the left hand side of the home page.

The Learning Pathways page has two sections. A section for creating and editing Learning Pathway courses located under the green Learning Pathways header, and beneath that, a list of users in your hospital/site where users can be assigned to or removed from pathways.
Note: The green Learning Pathway header is collapsible to show/hide the learning pathway form.

2. Learning Pathways header

When the Learning Pathways header is expanded, you will see your options for creating a Learning Pathway course. You will be asked to select from two types of pathways: Fixed Date and Duration Based. These two pathway types are described in greater detail below. For each module that you choose to include in the pathway, you will be able to check an Include Assessment box to include the assessment tool for that module as a compulsory part of the pathway. You will also be able to include a minimum score required to complete the assessment (or a minimum number of simulator cases).

Fixed Date pathways

For Fixed Date Learning Pathways you will be required to choose a start date and a finish date. This type of pathway is ideal for training that needs to be completed periodically.
For example, you might create a Learning Pathway called Annual Training, with start date 01-01-2017 and end date 01-01-2018. In it, you might include the Acid Base and Fetal Physiology, Intrapartum Cardiotocography, Errors and Limitations in Fetal Monitoring, and Antenatal CTG modules. You might also include the simulator training, and set the minimum number of cases to 5. You might then assign everyone to the Annual Training pathway so that all users will know what modules they have to complete, and when they have to complete it by.

Duration Based pathways

Duration Based Learning Pathways require you to choose a duration within which the training must be completed. This type of pathway is useful for users, or groups of users where the deadline for completion of training is specific to the user. The start date for Duration Based pathways will be the date that the user is first assigned to the pathway, and the end date will be the start date plus the selected duration. Each user for these types of pathways will have their own different end dates to work towards.
For example, you might create a Learning Pathway called New Employees and specify the duration as 3 months, 0 days. In it you would include all the modules that your hospital requires new employees to complete. Then, once you assign this training to a new employee they would have a 3 month deadline within which to complete their required training.

3. Assigning/Removing users

When a hospital administrator selects a Learning Pathway the user is not currently associated with, a green '+' button will appear, allowing the user to be quickly added to the pathway. The opposite will occur when removing a user. Alternatively, by ticking the checkbox next to each user you will be able to add or remove multiple users at once. Once you begin ticking check boxes a toolbar will appear above the list asking if you would like to Assign selected users OR Remove selected users from a particular learning pathway.

4. Sending Reminders

Once a Learning Pathways has been assigned, users will receive an email informing them of the training assigned and all the requirements and deadlines. By default each user will be sent a reminder to complete their training 30 days and 7 days before the training is due.

5. Reporting

In Progress Manager, under Step 1 of the Training Filter there is a drop down list that defaults to 'Show all users' that can be changed to show a list of users assigned to any one of the Learning Pathways the hospital administrator has created. The options in the Training Filter will change when a Learning Pathway is selected, as a date is not required - it will simply use the date specified by the chosen pathway. The training drop down menu will only show the training included in the selected Learning Pathway. Progress for each user will be shown as a percentage completed of all training for the selected Learning Pathway.

Remember to click the blue [Update] button to display the Progress for your chosen training filter.

6. Users To Do List

Upon being assigned to a Learning Pathway the user will receive an email notification that a learning pathway has been assigned. On login to the Training Programme they will see a to-do list on the right hand side of the home page with the following 3 columns:

Training
Requirement
Deadline
lists the modules to complete.
lists the pass marks required to complete the assigned training.
lists the due dates, & will be highlighted in red if the deadline is within 30 days,
or it will show the number of days overdue. A green tick will be displayed if the training is complete.

Note: The modules listed under Requirements are hyperlinks and will open to the necessary training when clicked on.
