1 x column with mounting screws and washer’s x 4 (column bubble wrapped, screws and washers packed with castors)
5 x varying length plastic inserts for column (normally already on the column)

1 x basket (smaller cardboard box - box useful for holding column horizontal when affixing base)
1 x CTG recorder shelf (or drawer if optioned)
1 x mounting arm for portal with screws x 4 (small rectangular cardboard box)
(you may also have a short VESA mount and channel bracket for mounting a telemetry unit onto the cart)

Note - there may be extra screws and there are also white plugs to cover some screws if desired.
If any items are missing contact K2.
Allen keys are packaged with each accessory, but you will need to provide a torx driver set and Philips head screw driver to complete assembly.

Step One: The Base

WARNING - The base of the cart is heavy. Where possible use two people and correct safe lifting methods.
1. Take the base of the CIM Cart and flip it over so that the castor mounting holes face up. Use some of the cardboard packaging underneath to reduce the risk of damage to the base.
2. Screw the castor pins into the ends of each of the five arms and then tighten with a 15mm spanner or and adjustable spanner.

3. Place the large white bumpers over the pin with the round cut out facing upwards.
4. Place the wheel cap over the pin and into the cut out. This cap would have been taped to the wheel on delivery.

5. The 5 wheels should slide down onto the pins. Push down to secure wheel until it is flush with the pin. Place the two locking castors on the feet that will face the front of the cart. (you may need to manoeuvre the wheel to secure it’s position as it has to align with the star shaped pin.)
6. Flip the base over to test that the wheels do not fall off.

Step Two: The Column

1. Locate the torx screws and washers for mounting the column to the base. You will require a torx driver set to mount the column securely onto the base.
2. In order to mount the column to the base we need to locate the front of the column. The side with three removable sheaths will be the front of the column, whilst the other side should have two so as not to get confused.
3. Line the front of the column with the front of the base which is between the two longest arms.
4. To mount the column to the base the best solution is to prop the column horizontally on one or two of the smaller packaging cartons and then line the base up on its side to the end of column and finger tightening the the torx screws and washers (this is easiest and safest again with two people).
5. When mounting the column to the base ensure that the washers are on the underside of the base. Tighten the screws and flip the base (with the now attached column) onto the wheels again.

Step Three: Threading The Power Cable

  1. Before mounting the accessories to the column it is easiest to thread the orange power cable for the portal through the centre of the column.
  2. Remove the white inserts on the rear side to reveal the openings to the centre of the column. You can leave the inserts in that will be below the desired openings that the cable comes out of.
  3. Thread the Portal end of the cable through the rear opening you have chosen and knead the cable up the column using the other openings to help.
  4. The easiest method is to knead the cable out the top of the column so that you can still put on the front accessories before pulling it through the front opening.

Step Four: Mounting Accessories

Note* - to add the mounting accessories you must remove the top of the column by removing the four screws and the top plate. Also some of the white inserts may need to be cut for the desired effect but the inserts are not necessary for functionality. Please make sure you slide the accessories into the channel in the preferred mounting order.

The Handle

  1. Slide the handle onto the rear side of column and adjust the white inserts so the handle sits at desired level (recommend position at average elbow height).
  2. Once the handle is at the desired level tighten the two screws with the corresponding Allen key.

Optional telemetry mounting bracket

  1. If required, the optional telemetry mounting bracket can be mounted either between the handle and the basket on the rear of the column, or on the front f the column just above the shelf or drawer.

The Basket

  1. Slide the basket onto the rear side of the column to the desired level above the handle and adjust the white inserts to meet your satisfaction.
  2. Once the basket is at the desired level tighten the two screws with the corresponding Allen key.

The CTG Recorder Shelf (or Drawer)

  1. Slide the tray onto the column front side to the desired level and adjust the white inserts to meet your satisfaction.
  2. One the tray is at the desired level tighten the four screws with the corresponding Allen key. It is recommended that the height of the shelf or drawer is 20cm above average knee height to ensure comfortable operation of the CTG recorder and to maintain space between CTG recorder and bottom of K2 bedside portal touch screen.
  3. The shelf or drawer is made of polycarbonate and can be drilled through if you wish to securely mount a CTG recorder to the shelf or drawer. Due to the variety of CTG recorders available, K2 are unable to provide specific guidance on mounting CTG recorders onto the cart.

Step Five: The Portal Mounting Arm – Attaching The Arm

  1.  Locate the mounting bracket for the portal.
  2. Now you can slide the arm onto the front side of the column. Once at the desired level tighten the 4 screws with the corresponding Allen key. Adjust the white column inserts to meet your satisfaction. The recommended height for the arm is 20cm above average elbow height to ensure comfortable operation of the K2 bedside portal touch screen.

Step Six: Mounting The Portal

Note* - This step will usually be completed by K2 Medical Systems.
  1. Screw the first two screws into the top two holes of the portal this will allow you to position the portal onto the mounting bracket with ease.
  2. Screw the other two screws into the bottom holes of the portal and tighten all four.
  3. A short video on commissioning the portal and associated cables can be viewed here

Completing The Assembly

With all steps completed the CIM Cart has now been correctly assembled to ensure everything has been correctly assembled it is safest to double check all screws are securely tightened.
