Central Surveillance Application
The K2MS Central Surveillance application runs on a standard Windows PC (Windows 7 or later) and displays real time CTG and partogram data for each of the birthing rooms in one central location. The Central Station provides an overall view of activity on the ward, and can display different levels of clinical detail. The central station is an important tool for sharing clinical information e.g. during shift changes. It means that only those staff offering direct care to the patient need enter the room.
The Central Surveillance screens give an overview of all electronic intrapartum information currently being collected via two views:
Chalkboard View
The default view provides a summary of currently admitted patients to the Birth Suite. Double clicking on a populated row will display the single patient view for that room.
CTG Parto View
The screen displays at least the most recent 15 minutes of trace for each patient. If the number of CTG traces being collected is small then a longer period of trace can be shown for each patient. CTG data cannot be scrolled backward or forward in this view.
Clicking on the CTG/Parto button located below the patient name toggles between CTG and partogram views for that patient.
Single Patient View
Double clicking on the patient name or bed number next to the desired CTG trace or partogram displays a more detailed picture of a specific patient episode. The Single Patient View displays all the views for the selected patient, including CTG trace, Partogram and Notes. Double click on any VE event icon, label or row to view the full information for that event. Unlike the multi-patient view, the Single Patient View CTG display will show all data of the episode for the patient admitted to that room, not just the most recent.
The displays in the single patient view screen function in the same way as those at the Bedside, except you will be unable to add or alter information for the displayed patient.
The Single Patient View CTG display has an extra button labeled [Print]. This prints the episode report for this patient. If the Single Patient View screen is displayed and there is no user interaction for 5 minutes, the multi-CTG View screen will be displayed.
Guardian holds a list of all the rooms a K2MS Portal can be used in. These rooms can be divided into groups called ‘zones’. The Central Surveillance application can be set to show only the rooms allocated to a zone (i.e. the Birth Suite zone only shows the Birth Suite rooms). The app. can also be set to show either public, private, or all patients. To set these elements and view certain technical information regarding the network status of the application, click the ‘F1’ key or spanner icon. To close the Central Station application, hold the ‘Alt’ key down and press the ‘F4’ key.
